Back in Phnom Penh

Hey everyone:

We arrived safely in Phnom Penh but it was a long trip. And sat on the back the whole time and it was a little rough but no incidents. After arriving here we came to the guest house and refreshed ourselves a little bit. Then we went to dinner with Savorn Ou and his wife Sony, Narin, a pastor of a new Kmai church here and a bunch of my former university students here in the city. I was so glad 7 of them were able to join us. I've known these "kids" since 2002 and they are not in their late 20's or early 30's. Most of them now have jobs with Christian organizations who are doing great ministries in Phnom Penh. We had a wonderful time with them and the meal was an authentic several course meal with fresh vegetables, soup, cashew pork (some of us thought it was pork so that is still up for debate.

Along the way from Battambang we encountered all manners of "road blocks" and means of transportation. Several times our drive had to turn a hard left or right at high speed to avoid reaching a water buffalo or a cow. It was quite a thing to see, but thank God our driver was reliable managed to negotiate the road every time. We felt that the hand of God was with us too!

Driving in Phnom Penh is not exactly the safest thing to do either. There are multitudes of motorbikes coming from all possible directions and cars of all sizes and shapes and people appearing from anywhere at any time. In all of this, though, people are incredibly polite and we didn't see any accidents, but several close calls.

Thanks for your prayers. I will try to upload more pictures here yet today.
God bless,
Pastor Ivanido C. Trindade
