Today we leave for Base Camp!

Took a few minutes to upload some pictures, hope you enjoy them:)

Today we depart for our base camp for the next five days and judging from the look of the pictures where we will be staying there, pretty sure that the internet hasn`t arrived anywhere near where we will be staying, soooo, if you don´t hear anything until about Tuesday or Wednesday from the team, don´t panic.

We are excited to be heading out to this base camp as it is a church, open doors, open windows, lots and lots of bugs, and we´re sleeping on the ground. Looking forward to an upclose and person encounter with the mighty Brazillian cockroach and mosquitos, yeah baby!

We are dependent on your prayers for this next leg of our journey as we will be helping to establish a church plant in this remote area of the Amazon.  Our team is very excited to see what the Lord will do and how we might contribute to His Kingdom and His name being made famous in a very remote part of the world.

I am excited as well to introduce you to Rebekah Stebbins, one of our team members.  Here are her thoughts regarding our journey thus far, and remember to keep those hugs, kisses and prayers coming our way, uniquely disguised as a comment on this blog as we share your thoughts like mail from home with the team as we go.

Be blessed,
RAD

¨Yesterday we finally arrived in Brazil. After the obligatory team picture in the Brasilia airport, we took our last flight to BelĂ©m. I slept the entire way; even through the long delay before take off. It was a lovely opportunity to catch up on some lost sleep.

We finally landed and met Pastor Ivanildo`s brother, nephew, and friend who all came to pick us up and help deliver our things. We got to our hotel (Hotel Sagres). What a beautiful hotel to stay in for our first night in Brazil! After cleaning up from 24 hours of traveling we went out to eat at a restaurant that had a buffet. We enjoyed all the food, especially the desserts. On our way to a grocery store to buy water we stopped to talk with three homeless men. One had been homeless for 20 years, the other 10, and the last for three years. It was very moving to hear their stories of how they live on the streets. They seemed very open and happy to chat with us. When we got back to the hotel we had a team meeting and discussed a chapter of our book we are reading during the trip called The Story of Your Life by Matthew West. In all it was a great day for brand new experiences and first impressions in a wonderful country.

Your partnership with us is deeply appreciated,
Rebekah¨

Praying for all of you! I must say I am glad I had a concrete floor to sleep on in Thailand...sleeping on the ground with bugs, would have definately "stretched me!" Girls, I'd love to hear how that night went! I am excited for you to expreience what God has done and will do!
