Dave & Jana Slater
This is Dave & Jana's second trip to the Central African Republic. They were part of our exploratory trip in the fall of 2006. Dave and Jana made a profession to dedicate their lives to Christ a little over three years ago. They say that they grew up going to church, but it wasn't until someone explained to them how they could have their sins forgiven that they clearly understood the gospel and a light came on inside their heart.
Dave works for Seaman Corporation in Wooster and Jana works for the Wooster Community Hospital. Their full time jobs, however, have not hindered them to serve in many different outreach projects at our church and last year someone got closer to them and challenged them to consider what the next step for them was. They agreed to serve on the Global Task Force (missions committee) and the next thing we knew they were headed to Africa. They both love children and their hearts break for those who are less fortunate than we are. Dave and Jana are salt of the earth people who are willing to sacrifice their vacation and finances to bring hope to some of the "least of these," as the Lord put it.
We thank the Lord for Dave and Jana's example and pray that the Lord will use them in a mighty way during this trip.
